Dell Rapids Attractions

The historical slide show below shows pictures that were in the 1980-81 calendar published for the  Dell Rapids Centennial in 1980. All photos courtesy of Virgil Smith unless noted otherwise.  Photos and attactions are of Dell Rapids, SD.

At Dell Rapids, the Sioux River splits into the Dells of the Sioux.  If the water is high enough, it spills into the Dells, which is a faster moving body of water, and it travels through a small canyon with quartzite walls.  The other part of the Sioux River travels slowly, then runs over the dam.  The Sioux River is mostly a lazy river, canoeing and fishing are popular on the Sioux River.

Pictures include the Sioux River and Dam, several churches, the Carnegie Library, and the ODD fellows home.
